Willie Monroe - Shop Foreman
Willie Monroe is a veteran of the automotive repair
industry who has been working in and around motor vehicles since his youth.
In 1972, his senior year at WT Woodson
High School in Fairfax
Virginia, Willie drove a school bus in the
mornings before class and worked at F&J Fleet Services in the evenings.
After graduating from high school he worked for Henry’s Wrecker Service
from 1973 until 1975. In 1976 his
father-in-law started Quality Auto Body and Willie began working there as a
repair technician and remained with the shop until shortly after the business
was sold in 2007. During that 31
year period Willie worked in literally every aspect of shop operations and
vehicle repair for Quality Auto Body.
For most of those years he functioned as the Shop Foreman and was the
primary “big hit” repair expert for the shop.
During his career, Willie has continually been on the
forefront of vehicle repair technologies and training.
He was one of the original I-CAR training program students.
When it was administered by the Washington Metro Auto Body Association
Willie twice completed the entire I-CAR program of study and certification.
Other formal training programs that he has successfully completed are the
Guychart Frame and Suspension
School
in Canada, the Whitney
Wonder Rack
School
in Gaithersburg Maryland and the
Hunter
Front End
School
in Jessup Maryland.
Willie has additional specialized training and expertise in many areas of
vehicle repair including aluminum chassis, hybrid and electric cars, heavy frame
suspensions, air bags, and front end and suspension drivability.
Willie also has extensive experience working on
high-performance automobiles. From
1995 through 2000 he worked for Redman Motorsports on the Goody’s Dash Series of
Nascar. During that time Willie was
responsible for chassis setup and body preparation prior to races and on race
day was the front tire changer. In
1998 their team was a top contender, maintaining the 3rd points spot
for most of the season before finishing the year with a very respectable 5th
place total. For the past 20 years
he has also helped prepare cars in many racing series at the Old Dominion
Speedway in Virginia
Willie is a lifelong resident of
Fairfax
Virginia and an active member of the
community. He has been married for
over 33 years to his wife Jeannie and they raised two children who are now young
adults. His son also works in the
automotive repair industry and has been learning about cars since the time that
he was old enough to walk. His
daughter is a recent college graduate and has been pursuing a master’s degree
until taking some time off from her graduate studies to get married this past
July. For 11 years Willie ran the
Fairfax Police League coed softball program for Junior and Intermediate age
groups. He scheduled games,
maintained three fields, and also coached teams of his own.
During that time Willie’s teams won approximately 120 games compared to
20 losses and at one point went undefeated for 5 years.
In addition to softball, he has also coached youth wrestling.
Willie joined Cedar Park Auto Body as the Shop Foreman in
September 2008.
