Troops First Foundation Day of Golf for Wounded Warriors

Chevy Chase, Maryland – Monday, June 13, 2011 - Cedar Park Auto Body had the privilege to donate a fully restored 1989 Ford Ranger 4x4 pickup truck to the Troops First Foundation. The presentation took place at the Foundation's golf tournament at The Chevy Chase Club. This is one of several annual events that the Troops First Foundation sponsors to support wounded soldiers. Our shop owner Joel got interested in this year's event through his father-in-law retired Brigadier General Tony French. Joel decided that the shop would participate in the event by providing a fully restored, customized, but practical vehicle for daily use. Everyone in the shop jumped in to help bring the idea to reality.  Jimmy asked his neighbor Ed Jenkins to donate a broken down truck that he owned and Mr. Jenkins immediately agreed. Larry donated a custom stereo system and coordinated all of the details to complete the restoration project. Details that included generous donations of parts and materials from our vendors: Ted Britt Ford, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA Auto Parts, Al's Towing, Refinish Solutions, A Clearview Auto Glass, Sign-A-Rama, Olympus Imported Auto Parts, and Keystone Auto Parts. With the truck and materials in hand, our expert automotive technicians took on the task of a complete rebuild and restoration project with only six weeks before the event! After many long days of work, the truck turned out as good as any of our vintage or hot rod customizations. Finally, it was time to choose which wounded warrior would receive the vehicle. In true selfless fashion, instead of drawing tickets, the troops decided who among them was most in need. The new owner of the truck is an Army Sergeant still recovering after six years of therapy following a traumatic brain injury received in combat. The restored vehicle will replace the Sergeant's truck, that his fellow soldiers knew was no longer reliable. Participating in this event was an exceptionally rewarding opportunity for our shop. We thank everyone who joined us in the effort and look forward to this being an annual event for Cedar Park Auto Body.  (Click here for project photos)
